If you’ve spent time with our team, you’re probably familiar with our mission to be the most trusted inbound agency. However, another goal lies beneath the surface. We’re always looking for ways to strengthen our company culture and attract the best talent out there.
We recently had a position open for an inbound marketer and we were thrilled to see thousands of applications coming in. (It was kind of like the scene from Harry Potter.) As fantastic as our candidates were, someone simply stopped us in our tracks — Maddie.
Maddie spent eight years building her career as a legal marketer in Seattle, Washington. According to her, she did a lot of the same stuff that she does now but it was specifically geared towards the legal industry.
Ready for a change and excited for a challenge, Maddie applied with McMahon Marketing. Since then, she’s brought a fresh perspective to our office and definitely fits in with our company culture of weirdos.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with our newest team hire and really test her stuff. Get ready! You’re in for a long ride full of questions, giggles and motivational tidbits.
Kalie: I know you were just hired. But, in a world where money wasn’t a concern, what would you do every day if you didn’t have to work?
Maddie: Travel the world! I’d want to spend a year in each country, learn about the culture, eat a ton of food and see/do everything!
K: We’re known for dance party Fridays around here, so I’m dying to ask. What’s your favorite ’90s jam?
M: This seems like an impossible question. But, I think I’m going with My Prerogative by Bobby Brown.
K: That was such a fun decade. If you could choose an age to be forever, what would that be and why?
M: 30! My 20s were fun, but I don't think anyone wants to relive those years. 30 was the golden year of my life.
K: Think of all the tech advances! The lines at Apple seem to be getting longer each year. Speaking of that, what’s the one thing you’ve waited for the longest in line?
M: Furniture from Ikea. My sister and I got up around 3 a.m. to go get in line for one of their big floor model sales. I was like 16 and didn’t need anything. But, I played rugby so she brought me along to tackle people if necessary.
K: Remind me not to get on your bad side, haha. What would you say is your biggest pet peeve?
M: Hmmm. People who don’t understand elevator etiquette and any type of nail clipping in public.
K: Ugh, that just made me cringe! Let’s go back to fun things… What excites you so much that it keeps you awake at night?
M: GORUCK challenges, which is terrible because 99% of the challenges I do are overnight. So, not sleeping the night before is never a good idea.
K: That’s really intense, I can see drone shots over the landscape now. Who would you like to play you in the movie adaptation of your life?
M: Rebel Wilson
K: Nice! Speaking of celebrities, if you could invite five famous people to dinner, who would you choose?
M: Elizabeth I, MLK Jr., Barak Obama, Lebron James and Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
K: One of my favorite things about you is how easy going you are. What was the last thing you heard or saw that made you laugh out loud?
M: Old Ricky Gervais podcasts… I’ve listened to every episode so many times that I could recite them! And, that’s what I use for background noise while I’m working.
K: Okay, last question and I’ll let you get back to work. (I promise!) What’s the one piece of advice you’d give others about life?
M: Assume awesomeness in everything you do.
